We move in Our New House!

My Family moved to a new house and everybody was so excited to sleep too! My brother and I was amazed at the house and were very happy and glad. Our  super old house was so old and my aunty had been living there for 29 years and me.. MY WHOLE LIFE!!! My aunty moved in when she was just 2 and we were also sad because there were so many memories while growing up in that old fella house. We never expect to move and our new house is so modern and gigantic!! we were all jubilant.

My family getting free food parcels!

Yesterday we went to Otara to pick up our free food parcels, I was so excited! It was a long drive but we got use to it. When we got to Otara we saw that the line was very long. My aunty's best friend's brother was working there giving out the free parcels.  Waiting in line we were very bored so my aunty played some cool music and recorded me while I was dancing. It took seconds, minutes, and HOURS!! Finally we were the next one to get our food parcels which took a long time. I call my aunty's bestfriend friend aunty because they are very close. Her younger brother came with a clip board, my aunty and him were laughing and talking. He opened our boot and put two heavy boxes and three bags with veges and fruits in it. When we got home we gave one box and bag to my aunty's bestfriend. Our cupboard was so full when we put the food in and we put veges in the fridge and fruits in the basket near our eating table.

Our family was very happy and we also got more masks.

Fudge Pudding

                                              Fudge Pudding from Mrs Agnew.

At dawn I was shopping for ingredients for a desert called fudge pudding that Mrs Agnew gave us the recipe for. There was a few things to buy because it was a simple desert and I was so excited! My aunty and I went to the supermarket to get the ingredient and the excitement made me so hot I had to take off my super warm jacket I was wearing.

I put some blue gloves and started to grease butter on the casserole. I realised that I put too much butter on the casserole so I got some paper towels and wiped some off. It was super fun to make, following the recipe that Mrs Agnew gave me. When we finished putting all the ingredients in we poured the coffee over the mix that was inside the casserole. As soon as we finished we put the fudge pudding in the oven and put the timer on for 40 minutes.

We doubled the recipe so we could feed our whole family. The fudge tasted so good and we did whipped cream using the electric beaters. I enjoyed the pudding, it was fantastic and a master piece of mine!

My Auntie braids my hair!

                                 My Auntie braids my hair!!

One night my favourite aunty asked me if she could braid my beautiful hair, but she said it would really hurt! I said "yes" so she started from the top of my hair. The first one was ok but when she did the second one I WAS HURTING IN PAIN!!! It felt like a bully of mine was pulling my hair so HARD that my hair would all come off but, it didn't! A lot of time went past and it felt like ages! finally she finished one side so i looked in the mirror and i was so shocked because it looked so nice and magnificent on me! My aunty asked me if i wanted to braid the other side of my hair. I still said yes and even though it hurt I just wanted to braid my hair. The other side was just like the other side but 10 TIMES WORSE!!! My eyes were teary and red but at least it was almost finished! When I finished I looked 10 times better than I looked before! I was very happy and i show my nana who said it was gorgeous and beautiful! After that I watched a movie with my aunty and went to sleep!

DURING LOCKDOWN

                                            DURING LOCKDOWN:>

Today was a very cloudy and windy morning, the sky was grey, but still it was a beautiful day! I woke up late at 10:00 to do my school work and I tried to catch up. I laid my school work out and set my nanas google meeting because she didn't know how. I started my work and worked very hard to catchup and complete different tasks.

I had a few breaks and learning was super fun and it comforts me!

I practiced my addition maths and I found it quite easy! I did only half of it so I could save some tomorrow. When i finished all my work I watched StoryOnline and drew this picture I am holding. This picture is of Alma and a duck. I got the idea of drawing these two characters from the 'how to draw' link.

I really enjoyed My homework because it was fun!

During LOCKDOWN

During LOCKDOWN

Today I was woken up at 7.00 in the morning by my aunty to go for a walk. She said to ask my Nana if she wanted to come with us and she said yes.We brushed our teeth, got ready and off we went.  I was wondering where were we walking too but I just had you wait and see. I was excited and my right leg was aching and it felt like my leg had fallen asleep. The sun hasn't rose yet and it was pretty chilly outside.

As we were walking, my aunty was ahead of us and stopped at a path on our left and she started walking down that track. The path was filled with beautiful tall trees and lots of nature. It was quite long and the cool morning breeze made me feel relaxed too.

When we got out of the path I saw a beautiful ocean on the opposite side from us. We saw other people walking who had umbrellas because it was starting to spit and this freaked me out because we weren't home yet and the clouds were turning grey.

Finally, ww were almost home with my aching leg and I felt very happy about this. When we got to the drive way, we stretched our legs and it felt very good. We all got in,  had some water and cooled ourselves down.

Aroha in my whanau

WA describing aroha in our whanau

I love my whanau because they are loving and show me aroha. My mum is single and she is lovely the way she is. I have a brother and we live in a small house in Glen Innes. My family is the best and I am very grateful.

When my wider family gathers together it feels like the best day in the year. I love my Nana and papa because when my mum went to school, they looked after me when I was little. My disabled aunt Gloria is very smart and always smiles.

My brother sometimes cries for my things and I get very mad and yell at him. Then I feel bad and we sit and watch “Attack on Titan” on anime.

My favourite person is my aunty Brinette because she is always kind to me even though sometimes she growls at me to do the right thing. I have nine family members including me and all of us love one another.

My whanau spoils my brother and me so much and they say we deserve it. The one thing that I love about whanau is when we come together and laugh. My family and I always aroha and we always will.

My favourite proverb is: “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” because I am like my family, especially my Mum.

My favourite aroha symbol is:

Water Awareness

On the 8th of June we began Water Awareness lessons. It was the late morning and everybody had their towels, togs, and lastly their swimming caps. The boys went first, then the Juniors and finally the senior girls.

After lunch the bus arrived and we went excitedly to the bus. We were very happy because we hadn't been on a bus in ages. When we got to the pools we were divided into three groups. The girls in my group were Frances, Sulia, Estherose, Jamie, Nikita, Upu and me.

We had lessons everyday and I soon noticed  that I was getting better and better.  We learned to use the boards to kick and make our arms go round and round while our heads were under the water. We also had to lie on our backs and completely relax with our arms and legs spread out wide like a starfish.

One day it was Safety Day and we had to halve the girls. Firstly we had to lie on our backs two by two and scream for help. We had to scream as loudly as we could. The next activity was for us to switch places with the other girls and this time it was our turn to go on the boat. We sat opposite one another facing in and then when the teacher said 'go' we had to fall backwards into the water. It was really fun. I think I learned a lot and I feel much more confident in water now too.

Revealing my feelings through Art

A few weeks ago I created a self portrait. I started by drawing the head and Mrs Agnew, my teacher said I had to draw lines to get the perfect face for my self portrait.
I added in my eyes, mouth, eyebrows and nose, so they were in proportion. I coloured my face with peach and a little bit of brown. I drew my neck and my shoulders added clothes to my self portrait.

Eventually it was time to draw my hair and I coloured it black. Finally it looked like a real person and I was happy. Finally we had to make a background for the portraits. We used a white wax crayon to make lines to show different feelings we have. I drew lines for when I feel sad, angry and shy. After that we painted over the wax with blue dye.

I wrote a blurb describing my actions with feelings and this is one I would like to share: "when I feel surprised, I put my hands on my cheeks and open my jaw."

I go to St Patrick's school. My teachers are Mrs Agnew and Miss Kyle. I have two good friends in school named Fe'ao and Sulia. They are very fun to play with and we are very good friends! My favourite game to play is rugby. I like to write because my teacher Mrs Agnew always likes my writing and she is impressed with what I write. I also love to read so I can learn new words and learn to pronounce words I don't know.

Chicks at St Patrick's

Last Tuesday, a lady named Jo came to our classroom. She came with 11 eggs and she said we could keep them for 11 days and watch them grow. There were chicks in the incubator but they were still in their little shells. My friends and I were so excited about the chicks when we realized what we were going to see.

A few days later I was sick so I couldn't go to school or see the chicks hatch. When it was Thursday my mum said I could go back to school and I was really happy when I saw all the chicks already in the brooder for the first time they were so cute. When we got to touch the chicks. I was shocked because I was so excited to see them all hatched already.

Did you know when you put a chick in your hand it feels like they are scratching your palm? In a few days it was the weekend and one of the boys in our class got to take them home and look after them. When it was Monday the chicks were bigger and noisier.

This week was the last week for the chicks to go back to their farm with Jo. They were starting to get their fluff on their wings and some of them were trying to fly out of the brooder. I could tell that the chicks have grown stronger and had more energy. When it was the second to last day I was so  devastated because while I was working I looked at the chicks and realized they'd be going soon.

When it was the last day of the chicks staying with us we didn't get a chance to hold the chicks again. When Jo came, three people were crying and I was one of them. We missed how they felt  warm and fluffy. All of room 6 was sad.
